Terrible Toffees
Everton find themselves in 16th position with six losses after only ten matches. Defeat against Tottenham could see the end of Marco Silva’s reign as Everton manager. Everton themselves could be at blame for his reputation as a manager suffering. He had an excellent managerial record until Everton tried to take him directly from Watford two seasons ago. His results as a manager have drastically deteriorated since this episode, and Everton finally appointed him anyway when Watford sacked him not long after Everton tried to tap him up. Everton have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer ever since the departure of Romelu Lukaku in 2017. 19-year old striker Moise Kean has yet to score for Everton after joining in the summer from Juventus. Can he break his goalscoring drought against Tottenham? He is 2/1 on STS to grab his first goal for the Toffees.
Have Tottenham turned a corner?
Despite their loss against Liverpool at Anfield, Tottenham will feel buoyed by how they performed and coupled with their thrashing of Red Star Belgrade before Liverpool, Spurs will feel like their bad start to the season is behind them. Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane played much better in the previous two matches which will certainly please Tottenham fans. However, Dele Alli has been struggling for form during the last 18 months; he will have to start scoring more if he wants to return to the England setup.
Match preview
Everton will likely be tired from their League Cup victory against Watford in midweek whereas Tottenham will be fully-rested. Everton have not beaten Tottenham in any fixture since 2012, and it appears the style of Tottenham’s play is a bad matchup for them. They were thrashed 2-6 by Spurs at Goodison Park last season; although a repeat of that scoreline is unlikely, it will still be playing on their minds. Christian Eriksen has scored in each of the previous four fixtures between the two sides; you can get odds of 7/2 for him to score at any time during the match.
Betting tip
Harry Kane has scored eight goals in his last four matches against Everton with two in each game. We are tipping him to continue his scoring streak against Everton; you can currently get odds of 21/20 for him to score again.
