How to watch the FA Cup: BBC One and BT Sport 1.
This year’s FA Cup semi-finals will be a battle between teams from London and Manchester as Arsenal play Manchester City and Chelsea are up against Manchester United.
Arsenal vs Manchester City
Saturday 18th July, 19:45, BT Sport 1.
The first semi-final is a repeat of 2017 in which Arsenal ran out 2-1 winners in extra time.
Man City are the firm favourites for this match and to defend their title; another FA Cup win will at least be some consolation for their disappointing league campaign.
The FA Cup is undoubtedly Arsenal’s priority right now, and they need to put in a performance they’ve not shown this season to win. Both sides played each other in the league not long ago which ended up being a nightmare 3-0 loss for the Gunners and their centre-half, David Luiz. Can they put that match behind them and beat Man City? They are at 5/1 to reach the final.
Arsenal needed a late winner from Dani Ceballos to progress 1-2 against Sheffield United in the quarters while Man City recorded a comfortable 0-2 win over Newcastle at St. James’ Park. Arsenal will be hoping for a bit of luck in this one just like in their 2-1 midweek win over Liverpool. They only recorded three shots in that game compared to Liverpool's 24 and similar stats will be likely to emerge against Man City.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win and both teams to score currently at odds of 8/5.
Manchester United vs Chelsea
Sunday 19th July, 18.00, BBC One.
This will be the fourth year in a row that these two sides have faced each other in the FA Cup. Chelsea have won two out of those three fixtures with the 2018 match being the final itself; however, Man Utd did beat them 0-2 in last year’s competition. Paul Pogba was on the scoresheet in that win; he’s at 16/5 to grab another goal here.
The Red Devils have already beaten the Blues three times this season, and the 2018 final was the last time Chelsea beat their Mancunian rivals. Chelsea fans will be hoping they can stop the rot and strike a psychological blow as they are also both fighting for a Champions League spot in the Premier League.
Chelsea have been highly inconsistent this year putting in some excellent performances such as their away win in the Champions League against Ajax and their recent victory over Man City in the league. However, they were thrashed 3-0 by Sheffield United last weekend and lost to West Ham 3-2 a few weeks back suggesting that they can win and lose against anyone.
Despite their poor start to the season, Man Utd have been in good form as of late; winning six out of their last seven games.
Betting tip: Chelsea are currently at 19/10 to win within 90 minutes.
