Anfield, Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Sunday 19th January.
Kick-off: 16:30 (GMT).
English Premier League.
TV: Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event (UK).
This weekend’s most important Premier League game sees the return fixture of Liverpool vs Manchester United as England’s two most successful club teams go head-to-head.
Fantastic form
With 20 wins from 21 games, Liverpool are strolling to the Premier League title. However, this weekend they’re up against the only team that they’ve dropped points against, and their bitterest rivals - Manchester United. Liverpool have quite a few players in fine form, including Roberto Firmino; he is currently at 29/20 to score in this match.
Inconsistent
5th in the table and inconsistent league form, a trip to Liverpool is the last thing Man United need at the moment. However, they were unlucky not to win against Liverpool at Old Trafford last time out, and United manager Solskjaer would like a repeat of that performance this weekend. A win away to Manchester City earlier in the season proves that they are capable of high-quality displays. Man United are at 7/1 to get a surprise win at Anfield.
Despite the win at Man City in the league, they put in a poor performance against them in the EFL Cup semi-final and have left themselves with a mountain to climb to make the final. They did, however, eventually see off Wolves in the FA Cup 3rd-round replay.
Match preview
Liverpool will have the majority of the ball, and an early goal will be vital. They didn’t get off to a good start at Old Trafford, and Man Utd frustrated them. Man Utd have played well against the top teams in the league so far, so this match won’t be as simple as a lot of people are predicting. David De Gea will have his work cut out for him in goal during this game, and he will have to be at his best if the Red Devils are to get a result. You can currently get odds of 11/2 for a Manchester United clean sheet.
Injury news
Liverpool: Joel Matip, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner and Dejan Lovren.
Man United: Scott McTominay, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba.
