The 2020 NBA All-Star Game in Chicago sees a repeat of the 2019 final between Team LeBron and Team Giannis.
What is the NBA All-Star Game?
The NBA All-Star Game is a basketball exhibition match organised every February by the National Basketball Association (NBA). It is the main event of the NBA All-Star Weekend, an event that lasts from Friday to Sunday. The All-Star Game was first played at the Boston Garden in 1951.
The starting lineup for each squad is selected by a combination of fan, player and media voting. Head coaches choose the reserves and seven players from their respective conferences, so each side has a 12-man squad. Team captains are the winners of fan votes that appeared top in each conference. The two captains will select their teams from the pool of All-Stars.
This year, Lebron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo were voted to be the team captains - just like in 2019.
Team Lebron
Starters
Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Luka Doncic and James Harden.
Reserves
Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Domantas Sabonis.
Team Giannis
Starters
Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakam, Kemba Walker and Trae Young.
Reserves
Khris Middleton, Bam Adebayo, Rudy Gobert, Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry, Brandon Ingram and Donovan Mitchell.
Rules for the All-Star Game
- Every Quarter Counts for Charity – The All-Star teams will compete to win each quarter for a Chicago-based community organisation.
- New Game Ending – The fourth quarter will be untimed, and the teams will play to a final target score, meaning that the game will end with a made basket or a made free throw instead of with the clock running out.
- Each of the first three quarters will begin with a score of 0-0 and will last 12 minutes. At the start of the fourth quarter, the game clock will be turned off, and a Final Target Score will be set.
- The Final Target Score will be determined by taking the leading team’s total cumulative score through three quarters and adding 24 points. Once the Final Target Score is set, the teams will play an untimed fourth quarter and the first team to reach the Final Target Score will win the NBA All-Star Game.

Match preview
Team LeBron won last year’s edition 178 - 164 and they are favourites to win again this year.
If you think team LeBron will win again, you can get odds of 7/20 on the STS website.
Lebron James picked his LA Lakers teammate Anthony Davis as a starter along with the rookie of the year Luka Doncic, the league’s top-scorer James Harden and the reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard. The chemistry and their experience make Team LeBron the favourites to win again in 2020. The players in Team Giannis are just as talented but without the experience of their opponents. They are the 19/10 underdogs in this match.
Betting tip
Despite being underdogs, we are tipping Team Giannis to win the first half at generous odds of 17/10.
