Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, United Kingdom.
Sunday 2nd February.
Kick-off: 16:30 GMT.
English Premier League.
TV: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League (UK).
The biggest match of the Premier League weekend sees Jose Mourinho against his old foe Pep Guardiola as Tottenham host Manchester City.
Coasting
Things haven’t improved drastically under Jose Mourinho after he replaced Mauricio Pochettino as manager in November. They’ve climbed the table, although that’s more due to the poor form of the teams around them than anything else. Spurs lost Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan, but they have signed midfielders Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes. Spurs will hope to bring in a striker before the January transfer window ends as Harry Kane is injured. If you think Tottenham will defeat Man City, you can back them at 9/2.
Different priorities
Man City are already 19 points behind Liverpool and they’ll possibly be 22 behind by the time this match starts. They have very little to play for in the league other than making sure they finish in the top four. Winning the Champions League is their main priority this season. They are currently 4/1 to win the 19/20 Champions League.
Match preview
The stats don’t look good for Tottenham fans. They are winless in their last six Premier League games against Man City (D2 L4). City have also won their previous five Premier League games in north London (including Arsenal). However, there is cause for optimism for Spurs; they beat Man City in their previous match here during last season’s Champions League quarter-final game. Mourinho also has a losing record against Pep Guardiola. He’ll hope for an upturn in fortunes in their personal head-to-head. As always in these matchups, Man City will have the majority of possession and Spurs will look to create chances on the break and use their speedy players to take advantage of City’s high defensive line. There are usually goals in this matchup as seen in last year’s Champions League thriller. You can get odds of 11/1 for there to be over 6.5 total goals again.
Injury news
Tottenham: Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Ben Davies.
Manchester City: Leroy Sané and Aymeric Laporte (doubt).
