This season’s UEFA Champions League group stage is coming to a close. Here, we will take a look at the story so far in each of the groups as well as some of our betting tips!
Group A – Club Brugge vs Real Madrid; PSG vs Galatasaray
PSG and Real Madrid are already through, and PSG will also run out as group winners no matter what happens. The only talking point remaining is who will take third place for a chance to play in the Europa League. Club Brugge must equal or better the result of Galatasaray to qualify.
Group A betting tip: Wins for both PSG and Real Madrid at odds of 31/20.
Group B – Bayern Munch vs Tottenham; Olympiakos vs Red Star Belgrade
Similar to Group A. Tottenham and Bayern Munich have comfortably qualified, and Olympiakos need to defeat Red Star Belgrade to make it to the Europa League.
Group B betting tip: A draw between Olympiakos and Red Star Belgrade at odds of 16/5.
Group C – Dinamo Zagreb vs Manchester City; Shakhtar Donetsk vs Atalanta
Pep Guardiola’s men will top the group no matter what. However, all three of the other teams can make it to the round of 16. Shakhtar Donetsk need to win at home to Atalanta, and they are through. Dinamo Zagreb and Atalanta need other results to go their way to keep their Champions League campaigns alive.
Group C betting tip: Man City and Shakhtar Donetsk to win their matches at odds of 15/4 in a multiple bet.
Group D – Bayer Leverkusen vs Juventus; Atletico Madrid vs Lokomotiv Moscow
Juventus are already through to the next round with 13 points. Atletico Madrid are surprisingly finding things difficult again in the Champions League this year. Atletico still have qualification in their hands, and a win against Lokomotiv Moscow or equalling Bayer Leverkusen’s result at home to Juventus will still see Atleti go through. Leverkusen need a favour from Lokomotiv Moscow to qualify.
Group D betting tip: Juventus to defeat Bayer Leverkusen at odds of 5/2.
Group E – RB Salzburg vs Liverpool; Napoli vs Genk
Liverpool have to avoid defeat if they are to qualify for the last 16. A loss to RB Salzburg would almost certainly see them be the first side since Chelsea in 2013 to exit the group stages as defending champions. A Napoli win at home to Genk will see Carlo Ancelotti’s men advance to the knockout stages.
Group E betting tip: STS are offering odds of 13/5 for there to be over 3.5 total goals in both matches as a multiple bet.
Group F – Dortmund vs Slavia Prague; Inter Milan vs Barcelona
Barcelona have already confirmed their place as group winners and Inter Milan need to defeat the Catalans to join them in the next round. Dortmund need to beat Slavia Prague and hope Barca can prevent an Inter Milan victory to progress.
Group F betting tip: You can back Borussia Dortmund to bag over 3 total goals at 9/5.
Group G – Benfica vs Zenit St. Petersburg; Lyon vs RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig are in the last 16 for the first time as they scored two injury-time goals against Benfica in matchday five to secure a draw. The team that joins them is still undecided, but a win for Zenit St. Petersburg will see them go through at the expense of Lyon. Lyon have beaten Leipzig before and will feel confident of another victory in France.
Group G betting tip: Lyon to win at 29/20.
Group H – Chelsea vs Lille; Ajax vs Valencia
Anything can happen in Group H with Chelsea, Ajax and Valencia all fighting for qualification. Chelsea and Ajax are the favourites to advance. Still, Valencia are more than capable of getting a surprise victory at Ajax, despite the hammering they received at home in the previous meeting.
Group H betting tip: Victories for Ajax and Chelsea at odds of 10/11.
